Save the date: Wednesday, July 30, at 7:00 pm. That’s the official groundbreaking ceremony for the library addition! When the addition is finished, there will be more space for books, magazines and all the other great library materials, AND a room for movies, crafts, discussions, lectures and all the other great library programs.
But for now, you can come and choose from thousands of books, movies, games, magazines, CDs and more to borrow. You can come in to make a report on what you’ve been reading this summer--the summer reading programs for children, young adults and adults are all going strong. (Sign-up is ongoing for all three.) You can attend any or all of the fun events on the schedule, including:
- Come to a movie. Monday mornings at 10:30 we show a family-friendly movie in the children’s room. Monday evenings at 6:30 we screen a feature film recently released on DVD. Come into the library to find out what is on the schedule.
- Join a club. The chess club meets on Tuesday afternoons from 4:00- 5:00 for children age 6 and over. Players of all skill levels are welcome. There is even instruction for the beginners. If you’ve got a chess set at home, you can bring it with you. Please let us know you will be coming.
The Pokemon club meets every Friday from 2:00 until 3:00.Using your own card set, play with other trainers ages 6 and above. There is no need to register.

Sisters May and Pearl struggle to adapt to life in 1930s Los Angeles while still bound to old customs they brought with them from their home in Shanghai.I won’t give away any more of the story, but it is bound to result in a great discussion (August 12, at 4:00). All are welcome. The Thursday evening and mystery book clubs are on hiatus for the summer.
