MADISON, NJ - Celebrating its 18th anniversary, Taste of Madison treated between 400 and 500 guests to the bountiful and delicious delights of Madison’s many restaurants. According to Michael Pellessier of the Downtown Development Commission and co-chairman of the event, “Always held in the first quarter of the year, the Taste of Madison was established in 2002 as a fun, town wide fundraiser and a cure for the winter blues.  The Taste of Madison Organizing Committee is a volunteer, non-profit partnership between the Madison Area Chamber of Commerce, the Madison Downtown Development Commission and the Rotary Club of Madison. Taste proceeds fund charitable causes, civic improvements and business development in Madison.” The co-chairs of the 2019 Taste of Madison were Mr. Pellessier, Karen Giambra of the Chamber of Commerce, and David Morozoff of the Rotary Club. Other members of the organizing committee were Mayor Robert Conley, Lisa Ellis, Jim Hollenbach, Rocco Iossa, John Morris, Michael Odell and Anna Riker. Dave Thompson was Gary’s Wine & Marketplace representative to the committee.

Taste of Madison was held at the Brooklake Country Club in Florham Park. Festivities included a beer garden, a 50/50 raffle, a silent auction and a tricky-tray event. Twenty-five local providers of food and drink offered samples of their wares at the event. All merchants donated their time, expertise, personnel and provisions to the event. The participating food and drink establishments were   Baba's Bakery and Café, Bottle Hill Tavern, Brooklake Country Club, Central & Main American Eatery, Crowley Cupcakes, Daddy Matty’s BBQ & Catering, D’licious, Drip Coffee, Frutta Bowls, Gary’s Wine & Marketplace, GK’s Red Dog Tavern, Harvest Bistro, Healthy Italia, Il Mondo Vecchio, Lenny’s Cocina de Abuelita, Lucco Cucina & Bar, Madison Bagel Café, Main Street Wine Cellars, Mexican Spice, Pascarella Bros. Delicatessen, Rocco-s Bar & Grill, Rod’s Steak & Seafood Grille, Short Stories Book Store & Café, Slamwich Scratch Kitchen, and Stop and Shop.

As in previous years, Avenue Travel, 62 Main St., Madison, raffled a $250.00 travel voucher and Salvatore Minardi Salon, 8 Park Ave., Madison, provided general hospitality to Taste guests. The longtime Presenting Sponsor of the 2019 edition of the Taste of Madison was Gary's Wine & Marketplace, 121 Main St., Madison. The Platinum Sponsor was Saxum Real Estate, 359 Springfield Ave., Summit. The Gold Sponsors were Adams Dental, 1 Kings Road, Madison and Stop & Shop, 133 Main St., Madison. The Silver Sponsors were L’allegria, 11 Prospect St., Madison; Lakeland Bank, 265 Main St, Madison; and Turpin Real Estate, 186 Main St., Chatham. The Silent Auction Sponsor was Haven Savings Bank, 177 Main St., Madison.

The amount of money raised in the 2019 event has not yet been calculated. In its previous seventeen events, the Taste of Madison raised more than $550,000 and entertained more than 7,500 guests. Mayor Robert Conley enthused “Another great Taste of Madison. There are great reviews of our fine Madison restaurants.”
