Borough Woman Arrested for Possession of More than 50 Grams of Marijuana

On Feb. 10, Patrolman Andrew Diamond and the New Providence Detective Bureau arrested Sylvia Falkowski, 19, of the borough for possession of over 50 grams of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, distribution of CDS within 500 feet of a public park, and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

The arrest stemmed from an extensive investigation, the approval of a search warrant by a superior court judge, and a search of Ms. Falkowski’s residence and vehicle.  The search revealed just under three pounds of marijuana, packaging materials, and scales. Ms. Falkowski was arrested and released pending a Union County Superior Court date.

02-01-2014:  Corporal Chad Wilson arrested William L. Mindnich, age 22, of the Borough with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after his vehicle was approached by Corporal Wilson for a motor vehicle violation and suspicious activity.  Mr. Mindnich was arrested and released pending a court date in the New Providence Municipal Court.


02-03-2014:  Patrolman Joseph Parlapiano charged Creston N. Lamonth, age 28, of Paterson with operating a vehicle while his license was suspended after Mr. Lamonth’s vehicle was involved in a motor vehicle crash.  A check of Mr. Lamonth’s license revealed the suspension.  He was given a mandatory court date with the Municipal Court.


02-06-2014:  Patrolman David Rodriguez charged Benjamin J. Martin, age 30, of Hoboken with operating a vehicle while his license was suspended after his vehicle was stopped for failure to display an inspection sticker.  Mr. Martin was given a mandatory municipal court date.


02-08-2014:  Patrolman Andrew Diamond charged Ryan P. Venedam, age 66, of Bridgewater with operating a vehicle while his license was suspended after Mr. Venedam’s vehicle was stopped for a seatbelt violation and for failure to maintain lamps.  He was given a mandatory municipal court date.


2-08-2014:  Patrolman Andrew Diamond charged Juan A. Risso, age 66, of Basking Ridge with operating a vehicle while his license was suspended after he was stopped for using a cell phone without a hands-free device.  He was given a mandatory municipal court date.


02-10-2014:  Patrolman Andrew Diamond charged Pedro M. Roon, age 46, of Nutley with operating a vehicle while his license was suspended after a random license plate inquiry revealed the violation. He was also charged with operating an uninsured vehicle and failure to surrender a suspended driver’s license within five days of notification.  Mr. Roon was given a mandatory municipal court date.
