Bottle King Employee Charged with Theft

April 22, 2013 at 6:22 PM

On April 10 2013, Patrolman Brian Colatrella arrested Sarah Kesselbrenner age 21 of Madison, and charged her with theft. Kesselbrenner was employed at the Bottle King Liquors on Watchung Avenue as a cashier. Management noticed that her cash drawer came up short on several occasions and reviewed her transactions. They found that she would pocket cash transactions and void the transaction. The amount of the thefts totals approximately $200 at this point. Kesselbrenner was processed and released pending further court action.

On April 12 at 7:09 PM Patrolman Battiloro investigated a 2-car accident on Main Street at Fairmount Avenue. A 2012 Toyota driven by a 17 year old male from Chatham, was attempting to turn on to Main Street when he struck a car proceeding west on Main Street. The second vehicle was driven by Carmen Estrella age 52 of Florham Park. The investigation revealed that the car driven by the 17 year old was occupied by 3 other teens, 2 of whom who left the scene before the arrival of police. They left because the driver had a Provisional license, which only allowed him to have 1 passenger in the car. There were no injuries, both cars were driven from the scene, and the 17 year old was issued a summons for violating the conditions of his Provisional license.

On April 20 at 12:18 AM, Patrolman Wayne Shivers investigated a single car accident on Fairmount Avenue near Fairview Avenue. A 1995 Volvo driven by Beverly Lapuma age 70 of Chatham, veered off the road and struck a tree. The investigation revealed that the car went off the road, drove along the sidewalk for approximately 20 yards, and sideswiped a utility pole before finally crashing head on into a tree. She was transported to Morristown Medical Center with a complaint of pain. Lapuma was also issued a summons for Careless Driving.
