The Boy Scouts of America will be honoring local men and women at the iScouting…Vale la Pena! 2011 Service Awards Dinner. Elizabeth Chalas-Berman, Rafael E. Cuellar, Esperanza Porras-Field, Felix Sanchez, and Laura Ziegert will be honored on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at the Hilton Short Hills in Short Hills for serving as exemplary role models for the youth of our area. These recipients are chosen for their outstanding services as evidenced by the interest and leadership they have demonstrated within the Hispanic/Latino community. They are citizens who live the ideals of the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives. The 2011 Dinner Chairman is Jose Nino, President of Care Alternative.
Elizabeth Chalas Berman is the President of Continental Food and Beverage, Inc. and is the Region 5 Chair of the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce; Rafael Cuellar is the President and CEO of Cuellar LLC dba, Shoprite of Passaic/Clifton; Esperanza Porras-Field is the Founder and President of the Morris County Hispanic-American Chamber of Commerce; Felix Sanchez is the President and Owner of Puebla Foods of New Jersey; and Laura Ziegert is an Admissions Associate at Dover Business College.
Through the iScouting…Vale la Pena! 2011 Service Awards Dinner funds will be raised to support the “at risk” and “Hispanic Emphasis” programs, which sends underprivileged youth to summer camp and provide all the funding needed to send inner city Scouts to attend Philmont Scout Ranch, the Boy Scouts of America’s high adventure base in New Mexico. Lastly, this event also allows for Scout Packs and Troops to operate and includes the cost of stipend leadership and Latina Program Directors. There are 5,000 youth served in this program. For their outstanding example to the youth of their communities, the Boy Scouts of America salutes Elizabeth Chalas Berman, Rafael Cuellar, Esperanza Porras-Field, Felix Sanchez, and Laura Ziegert.
