NORTH CALDWELL, NJ -- In a marked offensive turnaround, the West Essex boys basketball team erupted for a season-high point total in a 78-66 victory over Shabazz Thursday night.

Just two nights before, West Essex (5-6) had scored a season-low 20 points in a 37-20 loss to Livingston. But the Knights found their shooting touch Thursday night, despite falling behind by 12 points after one quarter.

West Essex surged back with a 27-12 showing in the second quarter to take a 35-32 halftime lead. The Knights also pulled away with a 24-16 effort in the fourth quarter. Chris Corbo led four West Essex scorers in double digits with 17 points. Garrett Kessler scored 15 points, Scott Barlow 13 points and Justin Waack 10 points in the victory.
