FLEMINGTON, NJ - The sixth-seeded East Brunswick boys soccer team won its first sectional title in seven years with a 1-0 victory over top-seeded Hunterdon Central Thursday in the Central Jersey, Group 4 championship game.

Sean Joo scored the game's only goal with five minutes left in regulation. The winning play began with an indirect kick that was headed toward the goal and then redirected back out by a Hunterdon Central player. But on the rebound, Joo converted a sliding attempt in front of the goal and kicked the ball past the goal line while falling to the ground.

Ryan McSwieney made three saves for East Brunswick (17-3-2), which almost scored five minutes before Joo's tiebreaker when Corrado Carbone shot just wide of the net on a free kick.

East Brunswick advances to the state Group 4 semifinals, where the Bears will meet Washington Township Tuesday at a site to be announced.
