Sussex County Community College (SCCC) Veterans Services joined with Spirit of the Arts in a breakfast fundraiser at Applebee’s in Newton, NJ to support Veteran students attending SCCC.
NEWTON, NJ - Nearly 100 people came out early on Saturday morning on August 23 to the Newton Applebee’s to support Sussex County Community College student veterans and enjoy a hearty breakfast. Proceeds from this event will go towards Rockin’ Fest on September 13 at SCCC.
“The proceeds of the breakfast will pay for much of the marketing cost thus leaving more funds from the festival to be made available to the vets during financially hard times” said Mike DeVilliers of SCCC vets services.
Among those who attended the event were Col. Jon Rickey and his wife, Jaime. The colonel is stationed at Picatinny Arsenal where he resides with this wife and son. Col. Rickey also attended an event on August 9 where he took the stage and gave an emotional speech, leaving us all proud to be Americans.
Applebee’s is a major sponsor of Rockin’ Fest. They will be providing the food for the eight bands performing at the event along with the many volunteers.
“We are very grateful to Applebee’s for their generosity and community involvement,” stated Sandy Mitchell, Spirit of the Arts. “It makes a big difference to be able to work with a sponsor like them.”
