BRHS Band Takes on ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - The Bridgewater-Raritan High School marching band was challenged to participate in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge by the Norwin High School band in Pennsylvania - and the members complied.

The band met the challenge before a recent Band Camp rehearsal, with members pouring ice cold water over their heads on the fields outside the high school.

The challenge, from the ALS Association, features people dumping cold water on their heads and then nominating others to do the same thing within 24 hours of the nomination. If the challenge is not met, they are asked to donate money to the association instead.

Reports say that since the challenge began July 29, the organization has received more than $5.5 million for Lou Gehrig's disease research.

The BRHS band nominated several different groups to take on the challenge, including the Bridgewater-Raritan High School boys and girls soccer teams, and other area bands that they compete against in competitions.

Parlin Arrested for Theft of Over $1K Worth of Merchandise at Target, Bridgewater Police Say

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - A Parlin man was arrested Jan. 13 for shoplifting over $1,000 worth of merchandise from Target in the Promenade Shopping Center, according to a report from Bridgewater Township Police.

Local YMCAs Holding Camp Open Houses

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - The Bridgewater and Somerville YMCAs are holding two Camp Open Houses, Jan. 28 and Feb. 25 from 10 p.m. to 1 p.m.
