Bridgewater Rotary Club Hosts Aid in Dying Discussion

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - On July 29, the Bridgewater Rotary Club welcomed to its weekly meeting a representative from Compassion & Choices, a national non-profit organization committed to improving care and expanding choice at the end of life.

The representative presented information about aid in dying and the New Jersey Aid in Dying for the Terminally Ill Act (A2270), currently before the NJ State Assembly.

The legislation, which passed out of the Assembly Health and Senior Services Committee in June, would allow mentally competent, terminally ill adults the right to request a prescription for life-ending medication, which the patient would self-administer to reduce suffering at end of life.

The legislation is expected to come up for a full Assembly vote this fall. More information is available at
