BRIDGEWATER, NJ - Bridgewater resident Pearl Chiang will be showing off her artwork in an exhibit at the Bridgewater Township Library, open through Aug. 30.
Chiang, a nurse IN the Matheny Medical and Educational Center’s adult red residential zone, said she uses her art to relieve stress.
“It helps relieve my stress and helps me find inspiration in ways I didn’t know were possible,” she said in a release.
Chiang, a native of Taiwan, became a nurse after her son was diagnosed with diabetes 13 years ago.
According to the release, Chiang has enjoyed painting since she was a child, and always starts with a pencil sketch followed by the use of a watercolor pencil.
“Then, after the watercolor pencil, I try to use materials such as oil paint or a special effect like embroideries or a pearl to make it come to life,” she said in the release.
Chiang’s work, the release said, is always colorful and often depicts beautiful women, although the exhibit at the Bridgewater Library will also include paintings of animals and birds.
The exhibit, the release said, is anchored by a large scale 3D painting called “Mermaid.”
