PARKLAND, FL- At a nearly 12 hour meeting on Tuesday, Broward County Schools Superintendent Robert Runcie and the Broward County School Board agreed to open schools beginning Wednesday, October 14 for some students and Tuesday, October 20 for the remainder of students.

Runcie had proposed a return to school beginning October 5, but concerns from employees and School Board members over safety and preparedness issues pushed the date back to begin October 14.

Students in Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, 1st Grade, 2nd Grade, 6th Grade, and 9th Grade will begin on October 14 and benefit from the extra week of adjustment. The remainder of students are due to begin on Tuesday, October 20.
