Brundage Park Playhouse Presents The Wizard of Oz: This Weekend

February 7, 2014 at 11:57 PM

RANDOLPH,NJ- The Brundage Park Playhouse will open its' doors this weekend for a live performance of "The Wizard of Oz."

"The play will be very true to the movie," said director Mark Carovale. "There will be the Lollipop Guild, a tornado and a wicked witch."

The magical tale of how Dorothy Gale fell into the land of Oz will be brought to life with this wonderful cast and crew.

Randolph resident, Alicia Vega plays Dorothy, and captures the essence of this classic character through song. A voice that will make any viewer feel like they too are in the wondrous land of Oz.

Alyssa Ciampaglio plays Miss Almira Glutch and the Wicked Witch of the West. Ciampaglio's laugh could very well be the same one from the 1939 film. Her role as Miss Glutch and the Wicked Witch both accurately express the ferociousness of these characters.

Nola Young not only takes on the role of Glinda the Good Witch but as stage manager. With such a small stage to work on, Young hopes that the cast and crew will collaborate swiftly together to help each set change be as successful and speedy as possible.

"That's what kills the show," said Carovale, "people waiting for the set to get changed."

"Unfortunately, we don't have an opera house here. We don't have tons of room. If we did the first thing we would put in would be a fly system," Carovale joked.

Performance dates are Feb. 7, 14 and 21 at 8 p.m. and Feb. 8, 9, 15, 16, 22 and 23 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 for Seniors 65 and older and for Children under 12. All others are $20.

To make reservations call the playhouse box offices at (973) 989-7092 to reserve seats.
