HAWTHORNE, NJ - The success of the Hawthorne Pride Alliance's clothing drive was such that the Alliance announced Saturday will be a second drop-off date for those who wish to donate.

"Due to the overwhelming response of the Pride Alliance Clothing drive last weekend, the Hawthorne Pride Alliance will be hosting a second drop off day for those who wish to donate to the RAIN foundation - a shelter for LGBT homeless youth," said Chairman Mike Stracco.

The drive will be two hours long on Saturday, November 28, from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. once again in the Municipal Building parking lot.

"The original drive organized by Alliance member, Bradley Campbell, yielded an abundance of socks, underwear, coats, paper products and food that were delivered to the RAIN Foundation last Sunday," Stracco told TAPinto Hawthorne.

The Alliance shared an email sent to the Alliance from the Senior Case Manager of the RAIN Foundation.  "I wanted to take a moment to extend a Huge and Humble 'Thank You' from the HBP LGBT RAIN FOUNDATION on the level of work your organization put together to provide our youths with some necessities needed for the winter.  The coats will be greatly appreciated, as you may know most of the youths here came when the weather was much warmer and do not have coats.  HPA made this happen for them. I am so grateful to organizations such as yours who embrace and understand the RAIN FOUNDATIONS mission."

"We were inundated with emails, and messages from  people who came forth willing to donate to help the kids of RAIN," Stracco said.  "So, we felt it was necessary to hold another drop off day.  When Bradley and I dropped off the donations from the first drive we were moved not only by the generosity of our neighbors, but also the heartfelt gratitude of the young people who helped us unpack the car. One of the youths said to us, 'you guys just made our holidays much brighter.'  That comment alone was the impetus for us holding a second drive."

For those who wish to have a contactless donation, the Alliance has formed an Amazon wish list that will be sent directly to Rain.  Click here to see the wish list.
