Butterflies at Essex County Environmental Center Through July 26

WEST ORANGE, NJ - The popular Butterfly Tent Safari is open through Jul 26 at the Essex County Environmental Center located at 621b Eagle Rock Ave. in Roseland. Hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturday 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The Butterfly Tent Safari is an interactive display where visitors can observe hundreds of butterflies while walking through a tent. A $2 suggested donation will be used for educational activities.                          

In addition to the public viewing times, the Environmental Center will hold a butterfly-themed family program from noon to 1:30 p.m. that includes access to the butterfly tent on July 26. Cost of the family programs is $7 per child and $9 per adult. Pre-registration is required and the event is appropriate for adults and children over the age of 8.  “Butterfly Gardening Workshop” will be led by Essex County Rutgers Master Gardener Jean Greeley, who will talk about the basics of creating a butterfly garden.
