Bystander Wounded in Shooting Outside Paradise Lounge

PATERSON, NJ - A patron leaving a bar in the 6th Ward shortly before 2 a.m. Friday was wounded by a gunshot emanating from an altercation in which he was not involved.

According to Lt. Patrick Murray of the Paterson Police Ceasefire Unit, a 33-year-old city man was leaving the Paradise Lounge at 1017 Main Street when he noticed there was a fight in progress on the sidewalk near the intersection of Main and Goshen streets. During the altercation, someone pulled out a gun and fired shots, one of which struck the victim in the buttocks while he was attempting to leave the area.

The victim was not involved in the altercation. He was transported to St. Joseph's Medical Center via private vehicle. He was treated and later released.
