Caldwell Police Recommends Public Download Safe-NJ Mobile Application

CALDWELL, NJ - The Caldwell Police Department has recommended a new mobile application called SAFE-NJ which is available from the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness (OHSP) .

"See Something, Say Something
OHSP is committed to engaging the citizenry of New Jersey as part of the State’s homeland security and counter-terrorism efforts. Accordingly, the department has developed a public awareness campaign to encourage New Jersey residents and visitors to report suspicious activity to trained personnel. “If You See Something, Say Something” public awareness campaign has helped OHSP better protect the people and infrastructure of New Jersey.

SAFE-NJ Application
Building on the “If You See Something, Say Something” campaign, OHSP developed a mobile application entitled, SAFE-NJ. The app enables residents of New Jersey and the surrounding states to instantly report suspicious activity from a smartphone or mobile device. The report will then be sent directly to the Counter Terrorism Watch personnel who are on duty 24 hours a day. The SAFE-NJ app is free and is available in iTunes and Google Play.

The SAFE-NJ App enables citizens and visitors to:

  • Automatically dial the 1-866-4-SAFE-NJ terrorism tip line
  • Enter details about an incident; who, what, when, where, and why
  • Capture a photo from the app or use one that already exists on the device
  • Automatically find and use the device’s location or enter an address
  • Report detailed subject and vehicle descriptions
  • Include contact information or remain anonymous if preferred

Downloading Instructions
To download the app to a smartphone, access iTunes or Google Play from the phone and search for "SAFE-NJ". The application can then be downloaded and installed for free.

Caldwell Police remind the public that the SAFE-NJ app is live and any report submitted will be considered live.
