UNION COUNTY, NJ – Christmas will soon be here, and Senator Raymond Lesniak says Santa needs a helping hand.
Through his non-profit organization, Imagine the Possibilities, Inc., Senator Lesniak, will host its 16th Annual "Operation Santa" to provide holiday gifts for children-in-need. The organization is seeking contributors who will be given a child's first name, last initial, age, gender, and size along with a wish list from children in Union County. All presents should be delivered unwrapped and in a gift bag to the 20th Legislative District Office at 985 Stuyvesant Ave. Union, no later than Tuesday, November 29, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4p.m. Monday-Friday. Contact Nealon Isaacs, the Project Coordinator at 908-220-2247 or e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Partnered annually with the Division of Youth and Family Services, "Operation Santa" will be held on Wednesday, December 14, at 5:00 p.m. in the Kean University Conference Center (STEM Building) at 1000 Morris Avenue in Union.
The event will include food, music, distribution of gifts, and a visit from Santa. Contributors are invited as well. The gift is given to the child with a note from Santa. For some of the children, this is the only present they will have at Christmas.
Imagine the Possibilities was formed in 2000 by a group of political activists who wanted to volunteer on behalf of disadvantaged people throughout the year and use the same commitment they have to public policy towards community service. Political party affiliation is not a requirement for membership, only a commitment to service on behalf of the less fortunate.
Since its formation by Senator Raymond Lesniak, Imagine the Possibilities has served at soup kitchens, bingo and polka parties at nursing and veterans homes, and has participated in various walks for charities. Operation Santa is ITP's largest event of the year.
Gifts will not be accepted on the day of the event.
