MILLBURN, NJ – Gotham, Millburn’s fashion-forward store for young women, teens and tweens, is hosting a special “Camp for a Cause” event this week. From Wednesday through Sunday, the store will be taking a percentage of its profits and using it to create a scholarship to send a deserving girl to summer camp at Camp Bernie.
“We are the store where many girls come to buy all of their summer camp gear,” said co-owner Gail Levy. “From non-uniform clothing, to duffel bags and bunk-junk, we carry all the camp necessities. So it occurred to us that we could give back by sending a girl to camp who would not otherwise be able to afford it.”
Co-owner Suzy Frankel said that Camp Bernie receives many letters from girls every year asking about scholarship opportunities. She and Levy plan to comb through those letters and choose a girl from the area that works hard, has done well in school and wants to make a better life for herself.
As part of the effort, the store will be featuring an air-brush artist on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to customize camp clothing and gear. This will be a great chance to stock up for camp as well as to give back.
Gotham is located at 391 Millburn Avenue; (973) 467-9797.
