The Berkeley Heights YMCA is committed to providing support for those in our community recovering from Cancer, and offers an ongoing free Cancer Recovery Exercise class which gives guidance and provides resources to help maintain and improve physical activity, health and wellness. This class is designed to teach about the importance of exercise in the recovery process from Cancer surgery and will help to increase energy levels and endurance; strengthen bones and build muscle; increase self-confidence and sense of well-being; reduce stress and anxiety; increase flexibility and range of motion; and improve balance and posture.

The class is taught by Carol Michaels, a Cancer Exercise Specialist with 17 years of experience as a fitness professional. She has worked with hundreds of cancer survivors. The class is taught in a small group setting, offering personalized attention, group support and motivation. Michaels will offer comprehensive advice, and an easy step-by-step program to help Cancer survivors begin to improve their physical and emotional health, to start the process of reclaiming their lives beyond Cancer.

The Cancer Recovery class meets on Tuesdays, from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm. The program is free, and open to the community.
