WESTFIELD, NJ — A car struck the side of the law office of William J. Sweeney Esq. on Nov. 12 at approximately 5:40 p.m., injuring one person inside.
According to the police report, Catherine Douglas, 64, of Westfield was pulling into a parking spot at 425 South Elmer St. When she attempted to stop, she told police, her vehicle accelerated, sending it over the curb, through some trees and eventually into the north wall of 201 East South Ave.
One person inside the building was knocked to the ground by the force of the impact and suffered injuries, according to the report. In that report, Douglas stated that she did not remember what happened, and alluded to a possible vehicle malfunction.
