Car Hit Tree on Westfield’s Springfield Ave Friday Night

WESTFIELD, NJ — A 68-year-old woman from Newark was airlifted to a trauma center in New Brunswick Nov. 15 after the car she was driving crashed into a tree on the 500 block of Springfield Ave, according to Westfield Police Chief David Wayman. No one else was in the car.

The driver was extracted from the veichle then transported to Gumpert Field, where she was taken to the trauma center by helicopter, he said. The accident is still under investigation.

It was the second emergency helicopter landing in Westfield that day. At 4:30 p.m., a helicopter landed in Tamaques Park in response to an accident in Clark. To read that story, click here.
