Carjacking Suspect Arrested, Held for $1M Bail


PATERSON, NJ - A 20-year-old city man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder in the carjacking and shooting of a city resident on Dec. 29.

Lt. Patrick Murray announced Friday that Rahjohn Rutherford has been charged as one of the two suspects in an armed carjacking/shooting in the city’s Riverside section during which a city resident was shot twice at 8:15 p.m. on Dec. 29.

Rutherford is being held is Passaic County Jail for $1 million bail. He is charged with attempted murder, carjacking, robbery, aggravated assault, kidnapping and two gun charges.

The 22-year-old victim, who was shot in the lower back and the left foot, has been released and is recovering from his injuries.
