PATERSON, NJ - The owners of Cassanova’s Bar and Lounge face hefty penalties after a Thursday investigation by the Paterson Police Department are said to have revealed several infractions, including underage drinking.

According to Public Safety Director Jerry Speziale, the action at the bar located at 467 Union Avenue came after numerous complaints from concerned citizens regarding significant quality of life issues. 

In addition to two female patrons cited for drinking despite being under 21 police also reported observing During the course of the investigation there were a number of violations observed illegal hookah smoking indoors and various administrative ABC violations. The bar owners, Speziale said, also had no entertainment license or pool table license.

The owner Wilson Tavera-Reynoso and managers, Marilu Carranza and Guillermo A. Carranza, were all cited with 12 separate ordinance violations. Additionally, there was $6,144 in United States currency that was seized from the establishment as proceeds from the illegal sale of hookah. 

Investigators also revealed a number of social distancing violations that will be forwarded to the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office for the consideration of charges for violating the Executive Orders issued by Governor Murphy.
