Catherine Salerno of Chatham, N.J., a 30-year hospitality industry veteran, has been named director of sales and marketing at the recently renovated 304-room Hilton Short Hills.
From 2009 to 2013, Salerno was area director of sales for HEI Hotels & Resorts, responsible for the leadership and development of the sales departments at the Marriott Hanover in Whippany, N.J., and the Embassy Suites Tysons Corner and Le Meridian Arlington hotels in Virginia.
Prior to that, she worked four years for Crestline Hotels & Resorts, directing sales at the 354-room Hilton Parsippany and 152-room Hampton Inn Parsippany in New Jersey and 256-room Headquarters Plaza Hotel in Morristown, N.J. During that period, she received Crestline’s Outstanding Sales Leadership Award for three consecutive years.
Earlier in her career, Salerno was a food and beverage field consultant for the U.S. Navy in Washington and held management positions with Hyatt Corporation and Walt Disney World, where she began her hospitality career.

Salerno is a board member of the Morris County College School of Hospitality and a past adjunct professor. She received a bachelor of science degree and master of business administration degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York
