The Cattaraugus County Health Department confirmed two additional cases of the coronavirus Wednesday, bringing the county’s total to an even 100.
According to a press release issued by the department, both the 99th and 100th confirmed cases are men living in the southeast quadrant of the county.
The man who is the 99th case reported no significant travel history and developed a fever, cough, body aches and loss of taste and smell, according to the press release. He consulted with his medical provider, who tested him for COVID-19 on Monday. His positive result came back Tuesday.
The man who is 100th case came into close contact with a known COVID-19 positive individual, but has been asymptomatic, according to the press release. He was tested for COVID-19 on Monday and received a positive result Wednesday.
The department has begun thorough contact tracing on both men.
There are now five active COVID-19 cases in the county; 91 residents have recovered, and four have died.
