CLINTON TWP., NJ - A ladies-only Comedy Night will be held Dec. 5 to support women who are rebuilding their lives after domestic and/or sexual abuse.
The evening will feature comedians Joan Weisblatt and Karent Krents. Women are asked to bring gifts of pampering and care which will be donated to the women and distributed through SAFE in Hunterdon. The event is sponsored by Chabad of Hunterdon’s Women’s Rosh Chodesh Society.
“During the holiday season, so many drives and funds are held and allotted to children and their families,” said Joan Sachs. “The mothers in these stories are so often overlooked as women and individuals.”
This will be the third annual Comedy for a Cause event put on by Chabad and has quickly grown from year to year. The performances take place at the beginning of the evening, where attendees will enjoy laughs, along with drinks, light fare, and dessert.
Following the comedy, attendees will gather to wrap the gifts for distribution.
“As a women’s group, we want to show these women and moms who have gone through so much that they are cared for and thought about,” said Rachel Kornfeld, coordinator of the event. “It is an opportunity to bring women together and show each other support within our community.”
Prior reservations for Comedy for a Cause are appreciated and tickets can be purchased at JewishHunterdon.com.
Sachs was the regular host of the Gotham Comedy Foundation shows at Gotham Comedy Club in New York City. She won Season 2 of the hit web series Comics Watching Comics, which can be seen on Amazon Prime.
