SPOTSWOOD, NJ - The Spotswood High School varsity cheerleading squad will be showcasing a lot of new faces for the upcoming winter cheer season. The squad is welcoming nine freshmen this season as well as three sophomores and one junior. The winter cheerleading squad is on the sidelines for both the Chargers boys and girls home games.

"Emily Petscavage, Dominique Carlson and Emily Mosquera are the returning seniors," explained Spotswood High School winter varsity cheerleading coach Jackie Cassidy. "Hannah Brumond, Erica Coello, Tiana Holmes, and Alexis Oresto are the returning underclassmen."

Cassidy isn't a stranger to the Spotswood High School cheerleading program. The Schoenly School first grade teacher is a product of the program, having cheered all through her high school career at Spotswood High School and into her freshman year at Kean University. Cassidy made the Kean squad, but it was eliminated due to budget constraints and she never got to cheer in a collegiate game. Today, Cassidy has come full circle, heading the program she once cheered for. This is Cassidy's fifth season as the winter varsity coach. Perviously, she was an assistant with the winter cheer program for two years and also serves as an assistant coach for the fall cheerleading squad.

"Amy Bacchetti, Failen Conroy, Gabby Palfey, Molli Smith, Megan Casper, Juliana Handwerk, Emily Chasan, Michelle Osinski, Alyssa Cicchetti and Amaya Coleman are all new to the winter season," Cassidy continued. "However, I have had the pleasure of coaching them this past fall season. Jordana Zeron and Kayline Medina are the rookies to the cheer program at SHS."

The complete winter cheerleading roster includes seniors Emily Petscavage, Emily Mosquera and Dominique Carlson, juniors Tiana Holmes, Alexis Oresto and Amya Coleman, sophomores, Kayline Medina, Erica Coello, Alyssa Cicchetti and Hannah Brumond as well as freshmen Michelle Osinski, Jordana Zeron, Emily Chasan, Juliana Handwerk, Megan Casper, Molli Smith, Gabby Palfey, Failen Conroy and Amy Bacchetti.
