Chatham 8th-Graders Top Summit, 32-14, Led by Schelling and Rooney


CHATHAM, NJ - Max Schelling broke a 55-yard touchdown run and wide receiver Jack Rooney raced 91 yards for a score on an end-around handoff to spark Chatham's 32-14 victory over Summit on Sunday at Cougar Field.

Linebacker Connor Byrd intercepted a pass for Chatham in the first half and Kurt Sacco pulled in a 20-yard TD reception as the Cougars took a 20-0 advantage into the break.

Al-Hafiz Harper scored on a 14-yard run in the second half, cutting Summit's deficit to 20-6 before Ryan Chase rushed 32 yards for a Chatham touchdown and a 26-6 advantage. Jack Agnew's five-yard TD run closed out the scoring for Chatham (4-3-1).
