Chatham Athletes Medal at NJAC Track Championships

ROCKAWAY, NJ - Chatham athletes from both the boys and girls teams earned medals on the opening day of the Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference Track and Field Championships held at Morris Hills High School on Tuesday.

For the boys, Andrew Vena ran 50.79 to gain third place in the 400-meter run and Lia Ferrone did the same for the girls, placing third in the 400 with a time of 61.8.

Also placing for Chatham was John Walsh, who took third by clearing 6 feet in the high jump, while Morgan Maltby was second in the javelin with a throw of 101'-7"

Dominic Vernazza set a personal record in the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:29.17, good for 8th place. Walsh also set a personal mark of 20'-7" in the long jump, which placed him seventh.
