On October 19 at 8:48 AM, Patrolman Wayne Shivers investigated an accident involving a school bus on N Passaic at Main Street. The bus was driven by Angelo Lekkas age 70 of West Orange, was stopped at a red light when it was struck from behind. The second vehicle was a 1992 Toyota driven by Jacksmine Jean also of West Orange. The bus was operated by the Livingston Board of Education and was going to the ECLC on Lum Avenue with 11 students and one aide. No one on the bus was injured but Jean was transported by the Chatham Emergency Squad to Morristown Medical Center with a minor head injury. Jean was also issued a summons for Careless Driving.
All persons charged with an offense are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
