On September 6th, 2018, Officer Andrew Pereira arrested Whayne Locke, age 50, from Albany, N.Y., and charged him with Harassment.
The arrest stems from an incident that began at approximately 9:09 a.m. this same date. Officers Brian Colatrella, Andrew Pereira and Kyle Beasley responded to 26 Commerce Street on the report of a man threatening to get a gun from his truck to settle a dispute. Detective Andrew Chase and Lieutenant Ralph Colatrella also responded to assist.
The complainant reported that Mr. Locke wanted to retrieve an item from the vehicle he was driving but was told that only the owner of the vehicle can enter it. Mr. Locke became angry and it was at this point that he allegedly made the statement regarding the gun. A description of the vehicle was broadcast and a short while later, Detective Chase located the vehicle at an eating establishment on River Road in Summit. Mr. Locke was located, taken into custody and transported to police headquarters.
After receiving consent, the vehicle was searched but no gun was found. Mr. Locke was processed, served with a complaint summons and released on his own recognizance pending a court appearance.
All persons charged with an offense are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
