MONTVILLE, NJ - The Chatham girls tennis team won its fifth match of the season, 5-0, over Montville and also learned that it had earned the No. 2 seed for the NJSIAA Northwest A Tournament on Thursday.

Chatham (5-1) received a first-round bye in the NJSIAA Northwest A section for Group 3 and 4 teams. The Cougars will play host to the survivor of the No. 10 Phillipsburg vs. No. 7 Randolph matchup in the quarterfinal round on Tuesday, Oct. 27 at Colony Courts. Mendham is the No. 1 seed at the other end of the bracket.

In the regular-season match at Montville, the first-doubles duo of Cameron Sims and Sophia Paparo pulled out the most competitive match with a 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (12-10) in straight-set tiebreaker decision. At second doubles, the Chatham tandem of Sarah Fidora and Sydney Berkson won, 6-2, 6-1.

Chatham's top two singles players, No. 1 Cornelia Bruu-Syversen (6-2, 6-1) and No. 2 Libby White (6-1, 6-2) each improved to 6-0 on the season. No. 3 singles player Nora Wiekert took her match, 6-1, 6-1.
