Chatham Girls Tennis Wins State Sectional Over Mendham, 4-1

CHATHAM, NJ - First-double partners Alison Ramsland and Emily Sroczynski avenged their loss in the state quarterfinals this past weekend to defeat the same tandem from Mendham, helping Chatham earn a 4-1 victory and the NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 2, Group 3 championship on Monday at Colony Courts.
Ramsland and Scroczynski bowed to Stef Elling and Charlie Trinco of Mendham on Saturday in the state quarterfinal round, but returned to the court to gain a straight-set, 6-2, 6-3 victory.
Also winning in straight sets for Chatham were No. 1 singles Scarlett Blydenburgh, second singles Sophia Fredriksson and second douibles Laurel Hickey and Katie Howard-Johnson.
First-year coach James Cai will take Chatham (17-3), the Morris County Tournament champion, to Mercer County Park in West Windsor on Saturday for a chance to win the overall Group 3 state title and a spot in the Tournament of Champions.
