Chatham Shuttle Hurdles Sets Record, Wins Group 2 Relay

TOMS RIVER, NJ. - Chatham's girls shuttle hurdles relay team of Liza Malatesta, Erin O'Connor, Elaine Weaver and Simone Kirton won the Group 2 State Relay Championship on Sunday held in the Bennett Center.

The shuttle hurdles team won the title race by more than a second and finished in 34.88, breaking their own record.

Chatham earned 12 points to placed sixth overall in a field of more than 50 Group 2 teams.

Colleen O'Neill and Erin O'Connor combined to clear 16'6" in the pole vault relay to place sixth, and the 4x800 relay team of Erin Tencic, Julie Hamilton, Catherine McNiff and Laura Walsh gained sixth place with a season-best time of 10:17.02.

Two other Chatham relay teams posted season-best times in respective events. The 4x200 team of Simone Kirton, Sarah Prill, Laura Barber and Lia Ferrone ran 1:53.81, while Colleen O'Neill, Sarah Prill, Jess Barry and Julia DiSalvio combined to post a season-best time of 4:39.04.
