Chatham STEM Hosts Student Tour of Google, Inc.

December 10, 2013 at 7:30 PM

NEW YOK - A group of 24 Chatham students, parents and members of school district toured Google, Inc., in New York City on Nov. 22.

Chatham STEM organized the tour and the hosts were Shubin Zhao and Yong Li, two Chatham residents and Google employees, who each have Ph.ds in Computer Science.

The students toured the innovative and inspiring Google office, which was recently ranked by CNN Money Magazine as the number one best company to work for.  Shubin Zhao presented an overview of Google, its community education outreach and the basics of search engine functionality. The tour concluded with a hands-on look at Google’s 3D Map by Yong Li, who works on Google Maps.  The students loved zooming in on Mars and more locally, our Chatham schools and recreation facilities.

Donald Trump’s election as president has increased concerns of a new round of tax cuts and greater government spending, which could stimulate inflation. The Federal Reserve has finally raised interest rates and is ...

Why the Y: A Mother and Daughter Find Community

“My mom works here at the Y,” says 9-year-old Leah Rajnarain, looking out from under her cat face-shaped sleeping mask that’s pushed up above her big brown eyes. It’s 4 o’clock in the afternoon and she’s in Kids Central, the Madison Area YMCA’s indoor playground, snuggled up in comfy pajamas because it had been pajama day at Torey J. Sabatini ...
