Chatham's Mitchell Qualifies for Meet of Champions X-Country Race

HOLMDEL, NJ - Chatham cross-country runner Will Mitchell has qualified for the Meet of Champions as a Wild Card entry. The Meet of Champions is set for Saturday, Nov. 23 at Holmdel.

The Group 3 race ended up being the fastest race of the day so Mitchell's 12th-place finish Saturday put him in the mix.  He would have been in the top 10 in all other races.

In the Group 3 race held Saturday, Mitchell's 16:30 time helped Chatham to its best average time in school history on the Holmdel layout. The team average was 17:05, surpassing the 17:22.83 set by the 2006 team. Chatham finished sixth as a team in the Group 3 race.

Chaham's top Group 3 finishers:Will Mitchell: 12th in 16:20; Dom Vernazza: 29th in 16:50; Liam Hynes: 57th in 17:22; Andrew Vena: 63rd in 17:26; Grant Hauck: 69th in 17:31; Kevin Gesell: 103 in 18:01; Parth Shah: 130th in 18:30.
