February 5, 2014 at 10:55 AM

CHATHAM, NJ - The Library of the Chathams is closed because of the storm, but residents are still one click away from access to library information from any internet-capable phone or tablet.

Library of the Chathams Director Karen Brodsky has announced the launch of a new mobile app.

Want to renew a book or place one on hold? There’s an app for that. Library hours or locations? There’s an app for that. Download an eBook? Find information fast? There’s an app for that, too.

Library of The Chathams has just launched a mobile app to put the library at your fingertips. From any mobile phone connected to the internet you can instantly tap into library resources, anytime, anywhere. You can search the library catalog, check your account, download an eBook, ask a question, find events and more.

To access the library’s mobile app, search Chatham Library in your phone’s market and download the app.

“Many of us live on our mobile phones these days, so it’s important for the library to be easily accessible whenever and wherever people need access to our staff and rich resources,” says Library Director Karen Brodsky “Our mobile app provides library information much faster than going through a browser. We encourage everyone to take advantage of this new way to use the library by downloading our app.”

Searching the catalog with the mobile app is especially easy. Just type the first few letters of two or three words and search results will begin to appear.  For example, if you’re looking up Mark Twain in the catalog, just type “ma twa.” Once you find the title you’re looking for, you can place it on hold right from your phone.

Funding for this mobile project initiative was provided by Friends of The Library of The Chathams and LibraryLinkNJ, The New Jersey Library Cooperative whose services are funded by the New Jersey State Library, which is responsible for the coordination, promotion and funding of the New Jersey Library Network

More information is available at the library website chathamlibrary.org or contact the library at 973-635-0603 during regular hours.

Closed Fund Open Mind

Closed-end funds (CEFs) can play an important role in a diversified investment portfolio. They offer benefits similar to those of an open-end mutual fund, but also sport unique advantages.

Unlike a traditional open-end mutual fund, CEFs have a fixed number of shares available to trade. Their price is not tied to the value of the underlying portfolio. The only way the number of shares ...

“My mom works here at the Y,” says 9-year-old Leah Rajnarain, looking out from under her cat face-shaped sleeping mask that’s pushed up above her big brown eyes. It’s 4 o’clock in the afternoon and she’s in Kids Central, the Madison Area YMCA’s indoor playground, snuggled up in comfy pajamas because it had been pajama day at Torey J. Sabatini ...
