PATERSON, NJ - A 23-year-old man was shot in the abdomen during an attempted robbery on Governor Street near Rosa Parks Boulevard on Sunday afternoon, police said.
The victim, a resident of Carroll Street, told authorities he was walking home from a neighborhood convenience store at about 12:43 pm when he was approached by a man who demanded his possessions. When the victim said he had nothing on him, the suspect shot him once and fled, police said. The victim is in critical but stable condition at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, police said.
Detectives were canvassing the neighborhood on Sunday afternoon and also planned to review footage from surveillance cameras in the area, police said.
