SOUTH ORANGE/MAPLEWOOD, NJ - Class Act Performing Arts Studio may be new to South Orange and Maplewood, but their recital performance on Sunday, June 1, proved that they bring enough to the table to stay for good.
As a dance school dedicated to training children in dance whether it be for fun or professionally, Class Act impressively pumps out dance students who are not only good at what they do, but love to do it.
Their recital featured students from ages 3-18, all with performing with whatever class they have been taking for the entirety of the year. While many of them produced ‘aww’s from the audience, many performances were also given round after round of applause for the talent that was displayed on stage from some students who weren’t even in high school. This is not to discredit those who are in high school, because many of the seniors are going on to pursue degrees in dance at musical theater at various colleges, and it’s clear from their excellent productions that it is indeed their passion in life.
Class Act is located at 128 Irvington Avenue in South Orange, and can always be seen with kids running in and out in various dance gear. There are classes five days a week, some of which are “company” classes, meaning that those in them had to audition to be there, and they might go on to do competition throughout the year. What’s special about Class Act though, is that kids don’t have to want to dance or sing every moment of every day to be there. There are plenty of recreational classes, for those who simply want to pursue a hobby.
Class Act takes a break from its normal classes for the summer, but continues to run Broadway-style summer camps for ages 3-13, with regular classes resuming in the Fall. Registration has already begun, so if you want to experience next year’s recital as a proud parent in the audience (or for any teenagers reading this, as a performer), head over and sign up today.
