EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - Back-to-school clothes shopping can put a huge strain on many family budgets, which is why the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints holds their annual clothing swap early in September.
"We set up a store at our church," explained Spotswood resident Jenalyn Engstrom. "People can shop for free for what they need."
As a mom of three school-aged kids, Engstrom understands the challenges of outfitting a family for the upcoming school year, which is why she is excited to be participating in the clothing drive and sale. In the past years, the popular clothing swap event has helped more than 500 area families.
The church is asking for donations of gently used or new clothing for men, women, children and teens along with hangers, clothing accessories like hats, belts, ties and scarves along with baby items to stock the racks and tables of the Swap Event set for Saturday, September 8 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Donations can be dropped off at the church on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. and on Sundays from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is located 303 Dunhams Corner Road in East Brunswick.
Residents with questions or donation drop off issues can email firstname.lastname@example.org. The church is also looking for youth volunteers to assist in sorting the clothing donations collected for the sale.
