SPOTSWOOD, NJ - In response to the dangerously cold temperatures forecast for the upcoming weekend, the borough has a Code Blue in effect through Monday, December 10. The borough-wide Code Blue began earlier this week on December 5 when temperatures began to dip. A Code Blue is a multi-agency response whose goal is to reduce the number of hypothermia fatalities among the most vulnerable members of the community during frigid temperatures, which includes children and the elderly.

Three warming centers will be available to residents through Monday, December 10. The available warming centers are:

  • The first floor Court Room in the Municipal Building on 77 Summerhill Road (This warming center will be open to those in need during the day and all night.)
  • Office on Aging on 1 Arlington Avenue (This warming center is available only on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.)
  • Spotswood Public Library on 548 Main Street (This warming center is only available during business hours, which are Mondays from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesdays, 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., Wednesdays 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., Thursdays, 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., Fridays from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.)

If residents require assistance due to the cold temperatures, the Spotswood borough website directs individuals to telephone the non-emergency number of the Spotswood Police Department, which is 732-251-2121 Ex. 0.
