The Westfield West office of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage is collecting unwrapped toys and personal items to benefit local residents in need through Heart for Humanity. The real estate office on 600 North Avenue West in Westfield will serve as a drop-off location during business hours through Friday, Dec. 20.
Specific items that have been requested are: pajamas, hats, gloves, scarves, arts and crafts, sketch books, jewelry for teens, beauty products for women (nail polish, hair supplies, etc.), footballs, basketballs & soccer balls.
“We are proud to be collecting items to benefit Heart for Humanity for our second year, and greatly appreciate any help that members of the community can provide,” said George Kraus, branch vice president of the Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Westfield West office.
Heart for Humanity founder Trish Nearing describes the Fanwood-based charitable organization as “a grass roots volunteer organization initiated in 1994, determined to help seniors and families designated by local social service agencies. Our organization is committed to helping seniors, formally homeless, single mothers and house fire families in our community towards stabilization.”
Heart for Humanity regularly needs donations of food, clothing, toys, books, baby items and household items. For the holidays, brand new toys, clothes, hat/scarf/glove sets, beauty items, jewelry and new DVDs are also needed. The organization also hosts food drives on a continual basis. All items are directly delivered to each recipient’s house as well as to designated churches and senior centers.
“With integrity, humility and compassion, we all can make a difference,” said Nearing, who has been spearheading Heart for Humanity’s efforts for 20 years.
