With terrific support from various members of the CHS community, and borrowed equipment from some other towns, it all came together to host 48 teams in the competition, three of which were our own CHS teams. Following the Singing of The Star-Spangled Banner by CHS’s Unaccompanied Minors, and few words of welcome from Dr. Morgan, Principal of CHS, Mayor Victor DeLuca, Deputy Mayor Frank McGehee and Giancarlo Sunga of PSE&G the tournament was on.
Of the three CHS teams, only the Junior Class Team made it to the Semi-Finals and was defeated there. Although the CHS teams did not qualify for the National Tournament in Detroit, the FIRST World Championship does have a lottery for teams that didn’t qualify, so ther is an outside chance that one of the teams will make it to Detroit.
The ten teams that did qualify for the FIRST World Championship are:
4347--NanoGurus from Morris Plains
12676--siSTEM.io from Plainsboro
9889--Cruise Control from Flanders
7026--JDroids from Wayne
11697--Ro11botics697 from East Brunswick
10582--Emerald Knights from Livingston
