Columbia Middle School Celebrates 8th Grade Students Commitment To Excellence

BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Columbia Middle School celebrated eighth grade students for their commitment to excellence at an awards ceremony Tuesday evening at the school.  The ceremony recognized the outstanding achievement and progress of students by subject -- awarding a combined 170 certificates.

Superintendent of Schools Judy Rattner, Columbia Middle School Principal Frank Geiger, as well as a variety of distributors presented awards and scholarships to the following students:  

Alicia Wintemberg was the recipient of the David M. Rattner Award for Excellence in Art.

Jessica Franolic was the recipient of the Marian Rattner Award for Outstanding Service.

Michael Richards and Lindsey Mahoney were the recipients of the Jack Dennis Memorial Award.

Nicholas Kwan, Emily Redunski, Christopher Savino and Rose Malanga were the recipients of the PTO Citizenship Awards.

James Pitingolo and Jabili Kandula were the recipients of the Berkeley Heights Education Foundation Citizenship Award.

Duytam Vu was the recipient of the Berkeley Heights Area Council Erling Clausen Award.

Jonathan Leber was the recipient of the Lions Club Service Award.

Tyler McCulloch and Stacey Berliner were the recipients of the Police Athletic League Award for Best Athlete.

Jennifer Barrantes and Donald Gonnelli were the recipients of the Columbia Middle School Peer Leadership Character Award. 

Renee Barbosa, Jamie Belfer, Alan Du, Sarah Lalevee, Allison Manns, Angelina Mauriello, James Pitingolo, Michelle Yao, and Victoria Zhou were the recipients of the Gold Presidential Award for Academic Excellence.
