SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ -- Congregation Beth Israel in Scotch Plains will hold Tot Shabbat services on designated Friday evenings and Saturday mornings throughout the year.
These interactive services are especially designed for young children, ages 0 – 5 years old, along with their families. Tot Shabbat services, which are free and open to the community, celebrate Shabbat through song, prayer and storytelling.
Each month, Congregation Beth Israel will offer one Tot Kabbalat Shabbat service on a Friday evening as well as one Tot Shabbat service on a Saturday morning. On Friday evenings, Tot Kabbalat Shabbat services will start at 5:30 p.m., followed by matzah ball soup and a nosh for the children.
On Saturday mornings, Tot Shabbat services will begin at 10:45 a.m. Regular Shabbat morning services will be conducted concurrently in the synagogue’s main sanctuary, beginning at 9:30 a.m. At the conclusion of both Shabbat morning services, everyone is invited to enjoy a complimentary kiddush lunch together in the synagogue’s social hall.
“At CBI, we want to make sure that all families feel welcome participating in our community,” said Lev Metz, Director of Congregational Learning and Engagement at Congregation Beth Israel. “For many young families, that means having kid-focused programming followed by kid and adult-friendly food. Our regular Tot Shabbat services are a great opportunity to meet and connect with other local Jewish families.”
Congregation Beth Israel will hold Tot Shabbat services in 2018 on: Friday, October 12; Saturday, October 27; Friday, November 9; Saturday, December 1; Friday, December 14; and Saturday, December 22.
Congregation Beth Israel is located at 18 Shalom Way, Scotch Plains, NJ (corner of Martine Avenue). To RSVP or for more information, contact Lev Metz at Lev@CBIsp.org or at (908) 889-1830.
