Spring Fundraising Benefit Event, “Into the Woods"
Short Hills, NJ (April 1, 2014) –
The Cora Hartshorn Arboretum & Bird Sanctuary is hosting its spring fundraising benefit, “Into The Woods" on Saturday, April 12, 2014, at 7 p.m. at The Racquets Club, 162 Hobart Ave., in Short Hills, NJ.
The gala will feature an evening of cocktails, dinner, dancing, and silent auction. Being honored at the event for their dedication and stewardship of the Arboretum are three outstanding individuals: Tom Doty, Stephanie Favia, and Leigh Gifford.
Tom Doty is a New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Certified Tree Expert, a New Jersey Forest Service Approved Forester, an International Society of Arboriculture Certified Arborist, and a Society of American Foresters Certified Forester. He currently holds the position as Millburn Township Forester.
Stephanie Favia has lived in Short Hills since 1992 with her husband Thomas and her three sons. During the eight years she spent on the Cora Hartshorn Arboretum Board of Trustees, she volunteered in the garden for three years and five years in the woodlands. Stephanie was a very dedicated and hardworking board member and volunteer.
Leigh Gifford lived in Millburn Township for 60 years. She was on the first board created at the Arboretum and served as the Chair of the Program Committee. Leigh also held the positions of Treasurer and President of the Arboretum from 1973-1975. Additionally, Mrs. Gifford was President of the Junior League, Neighborhood House, Smith College Club, Glenwood School PTA, and New Eyes for the Needy. She also contributed to our community as the Chairman of the Short Hills Twigs (Overlook Hospital), the Short Hills Environmental Commission, and the Shade Tree Commission.
“Into the Woods” promises to be an exciting and rewarding evening. Among the many desirable auctions items are the following:

The Cora Hartshorn Arboretum and Bird Sanctuary (CHA) is a non-profit organization located in Short Hills, New Jersey. The goal of the Arboretum is to promote an understanding of the relationship between people and the environment through programs that integrate arts, science, and the humanities. The Arboretum provides many educational opportunities from school field trips, scout programs, family programs, adult workshops, summer camp, and more.
