CORAL SPRINGS, FL – For an unknown reason, Teddy, the dog, went swimming in a Coral Springs lake on Wednesday and got stranded in the water.

It took the Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department’s dive boat and the city’s Police Department Humane Unit officer to get Teddy out of the water to safety near the Lowe’s Home Improvement store at 3651 Turtle Creek Drive.

“The dog would not have lasted out there much longer,” said Mike Moser, the fire department’s deputy chief and spokesman.

The rescue happened around 1 pm after police responded to a 911 call for help. The police humane officer arrived to find Teddy treading in the water, but the officer couldn’t get the dog to come out.

So the fire department brought in its diving boat. The humane officer then managed to grab Teddy, who was likely in the water for nearly 30 minutes.

Teddy was doing fine after being rescued.
