Cory Poole of East Orange Campus High School Disappointed with Performance at High School National Track and Field Championships

March 16, 2014 at 9:19 PM

EAST ORANGE, NJ – Cory Poole of East Orange Campus High School finished 19th in the freshman boys 400-meter dash in a time of 55.02 at the New Balance High School Track and Field National Championships held at the New York Armory this past weekend.

“I ran my first 200 meters much faster than the race plan I mapped out with my coach, Lance Wigfall. My body was taken to a level that it was not accustomed to and it resulted in me running slower than expected. However, running in the high school national championships was a phenomenal experience and I am glad I qualified for the meet and had the opportunity to compete” said Poole.

"Being around so many different athletes from throughout the United States who had the same goal has changed my perspective," Poole said. "I realize I have to continue not only to work hard, but harder on developing in my craft of being a great runner."
