Council of Madison Approves Fields and Fountain Ordinances


MADISON, NJ - On Monday, Aug. 12, the Madison Borough Council amended ordinance 26-2013 and increased the appropriation for the Bayley Ellard Fields from $250,000 to $350,000.

The $100,000 increase was appropriated from the Municipal Open Space Trust Fund to complete remediation and safety improvements of the fields, which was a recommendation made by the Borough Engineer.  The Chief Financial Officer confirmed that the increase could be appropriated but not to exceed $350,000 which has been allotted for completion of the project. The Bayley Ellard Fields are located at 205 Madison Avenue. The project addresses remediation, field safety and usage improvement.

The borough also appropriated $8,000 from the Municipal Open Space Fund based on the recommendation of the Historic Preservation Committee and Open Space Advisory Committee to the preservation of the Cole Park Fountain. The fountain has been deteriorating with time, and in an effort to preserve same, the amount not to exceed $8,000 will be utilized for the repairs of this historic site. The fountain is located on the corner of Fairview and Greenwood Avenues.
